Zoledronic Acid

Zoledronic acid belongs to a group of drugs called bisphosphonates, which reduces the amount of calcium released into the blood from the bones. Therefore, it is used to treat hypercalcemia associated with cancer, thereby preventing fractures in bones. It is used during cancer chemotherapy treatment to prevent bone problems in cancers like multiple myeloma and cancers of the lung or breast with bony metastasis. It is administered through the intravenous route. Fever, body ache, fatigue, headache, dizziness, etc., are the ill effects of using this drug.
