Breast Engorgement

Swelling or increase in the size of the breasts (full breasts), along with increased breast tightness, is breast engorgement. This can occur during the initial days of breastfeeding. If the breasts are engorged and are painful, causing discomfort, the women can get some relief through warm compresses, massaging breasts, a hot shower, and expressing milk in between feedings to relieve the pressure.
