Gutb

Genitourinary tuberculosis is extrapulmonary tuberculosis caused by the reactivation of dormant tuberculosis or primary infection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It affects the male and female reproductive and urinary tracts. Symptoms include flank pain, frequent urination, hematuria, weight loss, fever, night sweats, etc. In males, it causes ulceration of the penis and prostate swelling. In females, there are inflammatory abscesses in the ovaries and fallopian tubes. It also leads to renal failure. Long-term anti-tubercular drug therapy may eradicate the infection.
