Hello doctor,

I am a 38-year-old male weighing 149 pounds, and my height is 5.5 feet. I work in an eastern country. Two months ago, I had a sudden rise in blood pressure to 160/100 mmHg and palpitations. Investigation in the emergency room, doctors did my ECG, troponin I, and lipid profile. The reports revealed I had high triglyceride, low HDL, and high LDL, troponin negative, ECG, TMT, and echo were normal. Currently, I am taking the tablet Lipanthyl 200 mg and Omega 3 1000 mg. Doctors link my illness with anxiety. Right now my triglyceride is 98 mg/dL, HDL is 32 mg/dL, LDL is 90 mg/dL, and cholesterol is 254 mg/dL. Last day I had a spike in blood pressure, 160/100 mmHg again, but my cardiologist refused to put me on high blood pressure medications. I had panic attacks, chest pain, and breathlessness. Kindly advise me on what to do. I reduced my weight by 7 kg by diet and walking 30 minutes daily. I will attach my lipid profile too.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your ECG (electrocardiogram) report that you have attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) is normal. Follow the below measures to control high blood pressure. Avoid smoking and other addictions. Reduce salt intake in the diet. Reduce fatty foods, junk foods, and saturated fats. Avoid stress and anxiety. Do regular moderate-intensity exercise such as brisk walking for 30 minutes. Have a proper night's sleep, at least 8 hours per 24 hours, including at least six hours of uninterrupted sleep. Reduce weight even if the weight is within the normal range. Drink plenty of water. Do deep breathing exercises and meditation. Measure blood pressure while relaxed, and sit in a quiet room for five minutes without talking to anyone. Empty bowel and bladder before checking blood pressure. Avoid tea or coffee 30 minutes before checking BP. Next, sit on a chair with feet on the ground, back supported, hand supported on the table, and cuff at the heart's position. Check BP, and repeat after five minutes again. Then Check BP in the other arm and repeat after five minutes. During the entire period, remain relaxed and quiet. Arm with higher BP readings is your blood pressure. You may take at least two or more readings, and the average of readings is your actual BP. I hope this helps you. Thank you.
