Infection Of Nipples

Nipple infection presents with breast soreness and throbbing pain. Other symptoms include pus discharge, cracking, and redness of the nipple. The most common organisms causing nipple infection are Staphylococcus aureus and Candida albicans. Women who are lactating, diabetic, and immunocompromised get such infections. Breast cancer also presents with similar symptoms at times. Systemic and topical antimicrobial help treat the infection of microbial origin.
