Sperm Apoptosis

Apoptosis plays a significant part in the ontogeny of the germ line as a standard of controlling the germ cell: Sertoli cell ratio. In the adult, apoptosis helps in removing destroyed germ cells from the seminiferous epithelium in reaction to a vast spectrum of physiological and environmental catalysts. These comprise different types of electromagnetic radiation, chemotherapeutic agents and generally encountered toxicants such as phthalate esters, bisphenol A and cadmium.
