Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

Sudden infant death syndrome is seen in infants below the age of one year and is characterized by the sudden death of a healthy infant while sleeping. Brain defects, reduced birth weight, sleeping with adults, respiratory infection, sleeping on the stomach, and overheating are the causes of sudden infant death syndrome. Making the baby sleep on the back, keeping the crib open without excess pillows or cushions, making the baby sleep in a crib in your room, using a pacifier, breastfeeding, etc., help in reducing the risk of sudden infant death syndrome.
