Trigger Spot

Trigger spots are over irritated spots, palpable nodules in a stiff band of skeletal muscles. Direct compression on the trigger spot can cause tenderness, muscle twitch response, and referred pain. Trigger spots can occur due to aging, injury, lack of exercise, bad posture, overuse of muscle, sleep disturbance, vitamin deficiency, and joint problems. Trigger spots can be active or latent, diffuse or attached. Injecting the trigger point with local anesthesia, saline, or a dry needle can inactivate the trigger spots and relieve pain. Self-massages, strengthening, and stretching exercises can help relieve the trigger points.
