Acidity or heartburn is the burning sensation that results from excessive acid secretion in the stomach. To prevent acidity, avoid aerated drinks, do not eat a fatty meal for dinner, sleep with your head elevated at 30 degrees, avoid drinking coffee, and quit smoking.
