Gestational Thrombocytopenia?

Gestational thrombocytopenia is the term used to refer to mild thrombocytopenia that occurs during the 3 rd trimester with spontaneous postpartum resolution but no neonatal thrombocytopenia. It is common during pregnancy, but the low level of platelets can be due to various factors that may or may not be associated with pregnancy. Thrombocytopenia during the 1 st or 2 nd trimester is to be investigated immediately, but third-trimester thrombocytopenia is often harmless and does not need any treatment.
