Hyperinflation

"Hyperinflation of the lungs is caused due to damage in the tissues of the lungs, which make it less elastic. It occurs when there is an increase in lung volume preventing efficient airflow in the body. When there is excess air getting trapped in the lungs, it will cause it to inflate due to blockages in the air passage and a less elastic air sac. Hyperinflation can be managed by improving airflow during expiration or reducing the rate of breathing for increasing expiration.
