Swimmer's ear is also known as otitis externa. Swimmer's ear is the infection of the outer ear canal. The symptoms are mild initially and can worsen if the infection is not treated or if it spreads. This ear infection is commonly caused by bacteria and less commonly by fungus or viruses.
