Urine Obstruction

A urinary obstruction causes blockage in the flow of the urine through the urinary tract, kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Urinary obstruction can occur due to kidney stones, strictures of the urethra, polyps in the ureter, and benign prostatic hyperplasia. There is urinary retention, blood in urine, abdominal pain, and swelling. Placing a urethral stent, doing percutaneous nephrostomy, and catheter helps to drain the urine from the body.
