Adjusted Body Weight Calculator
The Adjusted Body Weight Calculator uses the Devine formula to calculate the Ideal Body Weight (IBW). This is applicable only to persons whose height is 60 inches (152 cm) or taller.
Using this method, the Ideal Body Weight of a male is calculated by multiplying 2.3 kg by the number of inches over 5 feet and adding it to 50 kg. For females, multiply 2.3 kg by the number of inches over 5 feet and add it to 45.5 kg.
The Adjusted Body Weight is calculated by subtracting the IBW from the actual weight in kilograms, multiplying the result by 0.4 (40%), and then adding this value to the IBW. This formula is particularly useful for people who are more than 20% over their ideal body weight.
