Dental Trauma

Dental trauma is a trauma caused to the teeth, periodontium, and nearby soft tissues like lips and tongue. It includes tooth fractures like root fractures and enamel fractures, chipped tooth, jaw fracture, laceration of lips and gums, subluxation, intrusion, and avulsion. It is often caused due to accidents, falls, vehicle collisions, and playing sports. In some cases, root canal treatment is done, and in serious cases, extraction of the tooth is done. For an avulsed tooth, reimplantation is done.
