Hydroxychloroquine is used for treating malaria, autoimmune conditions, such as chronic discoid lupus erythematosus, systemic lupus erythematosus, and rheumatoid arthritis. It comes under a class of drugs called disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs. It is taken orally to treat the conditions.
