Hello doctor,
I have had high blood pressure for the past few years, around 145/95 mmHg. Now for the last two months, I am taking Cardace 5 mg, one tablet at night. I am having elevated anxiety due to work stress. Should I continue with the same medication or change it? If a change, what other medicine?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Thank you for your query. You may increase the dose to 10 mg (milligram) if BP (blood pressure) remains persistently, despite following the measures. Measures to control BP are as follows. Avoid smoking and other addictions. Reduce salt intake in the diet. Reduce fatty foods, junk foods, and saturated fats. Avoid stress and anxiety. Do moderate-intensity exercises regularly such as brisk walking for 30 minutes. Have proper night sleep, at least eight hours per day including at least six hours of uninterrupted sleep at night. Reduce weight even if the weight is within the normal range. Drink plenty of water. Do deep breathing exercises and meditation. Measure your BP while you are totally relaxed, and sit for five minutes in a quiet room without talking to anyone. Empty your bowel and bladder before checking BP. Avoid tea and coffee 30 minutes before checking BP. Sit on a chair with feet on the ground, back and hand supported on the table, and cuff at the position of the heart. Check BP and repeat after five minutes. Then check BP in the other arm and repeat after 5 minutes. During the entire period remain relaxed and quiet. The arm with higher BP readings is your actual BP. You may take at least two or more readings and the average of these readings is your actual BP. I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
