About "D And C"

D and C stands for dilation and curettage. In this procedure, the lining of the uterus is removed by inserting a spoon-shaped instrument (curette), after dilating (expanding) the cervix (opening of the uterus). It is indicated in conditions like menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding), after miscarriage or abortion, and suspected cancerous condition.
