Melanonychia

Factors like nutritional deficiency, endocrinal disorders, localized tumors, genetic conditions, localized infection, certain medications (cancer and anti-malarial drugs), and injury can cause melanonychia. At times it can lead to pain, splitting, and fissuring of the nail.
