Urethral Stricture

Scarring of the urethral inner surface causes narrowing of the urethra leading to urethral strictures. Symptoms include reduced urine flow, pain or strain while urination, increased urinary urge, urinary tract infection, incomplete urination, etc. Scar tissue formation can be secondary to sexually transmitted disease, injury to the urethra, long-term catheter usage, urethral endoscopy, enlarged prostate, radiation therapy, etc. Treatment includes urethrotomy, urethroplasty, and dilation.
