I am a 57 year old female with a weight of 158 pounds. I have hypertension with a reading of 138 mmHg of systolic, 80 mmHg of diastolic, 82 beats per minute of heart rate. Spasmodic foods (like yogurt) cause higher hypertension. Antispasmodic foods (alkali, basic foods) do not cause higher hypertension. Which drug can I take?

BP of 138/80 mmHg is considered as high when compared to normal BP. You did not mention any other cardiovascular risk factors which put you in the low-risk category. In the first instance, I recommend lifestyle changes with regular exercise such as 40 minutes brisk walk on daily basis, reduce salt and caffeine, and smoking cessation (if you smoke). If after three months of lifestyle changes your BP remains above 130/85 mmHg then we can consider adding tablets. At this stage you do not need any tablets.
