Middle Ear Infection or Otitis media is inflammation of the area behind the eardrum, which is caused by bacteria or viruses. It is most common in children and is of two types that include acute otitis media and otitis media with effusion. It shows the following symptoms: pain and discharge from the ears, irritability, loss of balance, decreased hearing, nausea, vomiting, congestion, diarrhea, etc. Pain-relieving medications along with fever-reducing tablets are advised. If it persists for more than three days, the doctor may suggest antibiotics.
