Hello doctor,
My blood pressure is 130/100 mmHg. Should I take antihypertensive medications?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
130/100 mmHg has a high diastolic value than normal. I would like to know if this was a one-time reading. Also, was it taken on an automatic machine or manual mercury apparatus by your doctor?
Before we start antihypertensive medicines, I suggest blood pressure charting for ten days, daily, at the same time. If it is found to be consistently high, then we can start medications. Also, it is more reliable if measured on a manual apparatus.
Kindly consult a physician, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent.
