Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female. My weight is 152 pounds and my height is 5' 2". I just checked my blood pressure, and it is 156/102 mmHg, and my heart rate is 76 beats per minute. And I am experiencing some heaviness at the back of my head. What should I do? Do I need any medications? Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you the following to control your blood pressure. Avoid smoking and other addictions. Reduce salt intake in the diet. Reduce fatty foods, junk foods, and saturated fats. Avoid stress and anxiety. Do regular moderate-intensity exercise such as brisk walk for 30 minutes. Have proper night sleep. Reduce weight even if your weight is within the normal range. Drink plenty of water. Do deep breathing exercises and meditation. Kindly measure your blood pressure (BP) while you relax. Sit for five minutes in a quiet room without talking to anyone, and empty your bowel and bladder before checking BP. Avoid tea or coffee 30 minutes before checking BP. Sit on a chair with feet on the ground, back supported, hand supported on a table, cuff at the level of your heart. Check BP, and repeat after five minutes. Then Check BP in the other arm. During the entire period, remain to relax and quiet. Arm with the higher BP readings is your actual BP. Take care.
